PETER I AT THE POWER
I grew up in Moscow. When my father died, he left the throne to my older half-brother Feodor III, but at that time he was sick and weak. In 1682 Feodor III died, he hadn’t let any children to the throne. Ivan V, my other middle-brother was the successor, but my mother came from the Naryshkin family, and Ivan V came from the Miloslavkys family, and they didn’t want that I become a ruler. So they accepted to bring both Ivan and me to the throne. We were only 10 year old, so Sophia Alekseyevna, other daughter from the marriage of my father Alexis I, was in charged to take all the decisions, she ruled as an autocrat. I didn’t want that she ruled anymore, so I remove from the power Sophia and Ivan V, and in 1696, I become the only ruler of Russia. My reign ended in 1725 when I died in Saint Petersburg. In total I stayed forty-two years at the power.
